Dedication

This page is mainly concerned with the descendants of Phillip Lupo of Isle of Wight County, Virginia, the earliest known Lupo to live full-time in America, and the common ancestor to most of the Lupos found in the Southern states in the early part of the nineteenth century. Phillip was the great-grandson of court musician Ambrose (da Milano) Lupo, who served in the courts of Henry VIII through Elizabeth I from 1540 through 1591. If your Lupo ancestors were in America prior to the Civil War (1861-1865) you may be a descendant of this family. Variations of the name include Luper, Lieupo, Lewpoe, Loopo and Looper. Some locations where the Lupos could be found for more than one generation include Isle of Wight County, Virginia, Edgecombe County, North Carolina, Marion County, South Carolina, and Dooly County, Georgia. The material here is the result of ongoing genealogical research and is subject to updates as new information becomes available. It should, however, provide a good starting point for anyone with an interest in this family.

I welcome your comments and suggestions.
